Aluminium Pool Fence Posts — Buying Guide
Why Use Aluminium Posts for Pool Fencing?
Aluminium posts are the standard choice for pool fencing installations alongside aluminium fence panels. They offer the same corrosion-free, low-maintenance properties as the panels — no rust, no rot and no repainting. Matching the post finish to the panel finish creates a seamless, professional-looking fence installation that retains its appearance for many years.
Post Installation Methods
- In-ground installation (core-filled) — posts are set directly in concrete footings; the most common method for ground-level pool fence installations; provides a very secure, permanent installation
- Surface-mount spigots — posts are mounted to an existing concrete slab using a bolt-down spigot fitting; ideal for pool surrounds where the slab is already poured or where core drilling is preferred
- Through-deck mount — posts are fitted through the decking and fixed to the underlying frame; used where pool fencing runs along the edge of a timber or composite deck
Selecting the Right Post Height
Pool fence posts must be sized to accommodate the fence panel height plus any additional burial or fixing allowance. For a 1200mm-high panel installed via in-ground concrete, posts of 1500mm–1800mm total length are typically used. For spigot-mount installations, shorter posts matching the panel height are standard. Always check the post specifications against your chosen installation method and panel height.
Post Sizing and Profile
Aluminium pool fence posts are available in square and round profiles and in various section sizes. The post profile must be compatible with the panel system you are using — check that the post channel or groove accepts the panel end correctly. Mixing panel and post profiles from different manufacturers may result in incompatible fitment. Our team can advise on matching posts and panels.
Frequently Asked Questions
How deep should pool fence posts be set in concrete?
For in-ground installations, posts should be set in concrete to a minimum depth of 300mm–500mm, depending on the panel height, post size and soil conditions. Local building standards may specify minimum footing depths — check with your council or inspector.
Can I install aluminium fence posts myself?
Yes — many homeowners install their own pool fence posts, particularly for in-ground and spigot-mount installations. A pool safety inspector must certify the completed installation for compliance before the pool is used.
What colours are available?
Our aluminium posts are available in powder coat colours to match standard pool fencing ranges — including black, white, Surfmist and more. Refer to individual product listings for colour options.
